The point of the post is to reinforce something Seth covers frequently: “the products and services that succeed wildly are the ones that everyone expected would fail.”

But what grabbed my attention was one of the lines he passed on from someone else “No one “likes” Bruce - they either love him or hate him. He’s committed to what he does - and in turn - fans commit to him.”

This isn’t quite accurate. Sure, there are people who love him and people who hate him. But there are many, many more who “like” him just fine. An important takeaway here is that Springsteen stays committed to what he does for those who love him, and doesn’t try to water down his approach to appeal more broadly to those who think he’s “just fine.”

Unfortunately, my host for lefthandedwriter.com seems to be having recurring intermittent issues of a widely varied nature…which usually ends up affecting my email for a couple of days at a time.

So, while they try o get their act together, I figured I’d take a little time to do a little branding under my actual name. I’m not giving up the whole LHW thing. Just giving it a rest while I decide whether to transfer hosts. I mean, I very well can’t go along with email down for days at a time, can I?

For the time being, we’ll have to make due with DannyThompson, Writer.

Well, I’m a writer, right? So, I write. I could write about what clients need to do to market their products and services. That’s what I’ve done in the past on another site. But you guys already know all of that stuff, right?

No, this blog will be an exploration of what we as marketing experts can do to shake loose from some of our own blind spots and better help our clients not just sell more, but to improve various aspects of their businesses.

I’ll be coming at this from the aspect of a creative, a marketing consultant, a former manager and corporate trainer, and even as a customer. I’ll be looking for the weak points, where marketing theory and practice don’t fit quite flush with what’s going on out there in the business world.

Read it, or ignore it. Ideally, argue with me. Let’s get a discussion going and see what we learn.
